Summer breeze

I have been feeling very very happy lately.  I absolutely love Milwaukee.  I'm always working on making and strengthening new friendships...I've had to weed through some people that I didn't feel were helping me grow as a person. I am blooming.  Finally starting to navigate through this confusing world and take the reigns on my life. It feels great!

And tonight there is a soft lake breeze that wraps around each of us and gives us a quiet confidence we knew we had all along. :)

Artwork is coming along slowly.  I am trying to take advantage of being outside any and every second that I'm not working.  I think the summer will fly by and I need to enjoy it!  Nevertheless I had my first piece printed last weekend...It looks great and I am so proud of myself :)

Ok ok

I lied.  I will give a preview of what I'm going to be printing..zis is one that I am very excited about.  1000$ to the person who can guess what this picture is of.  Ok not really.  I've been editing my drawings all day and fitting them to common sizes.  Note to self, it's way harder to edit drawings after you do a live paint.  If you release a live paint you also lose all of your line thicknesses, which really sucks because I usually have many lines in my drawings.

On a side note, I can't believe how incredibly crappy the weather has been lately. It's supposed to be summer now.  I had many outdoor activities planned for yesterday, but couldn't really do them because it was in the 40's and raining, ALL day.  I don't understand how humans lived here before homes with  heat.  It's so COLD here!!!

UPdates 5/8/2011

I've been pretty close to my goal of making 5 prints before the summer.  Right now I have 4 completed, a business plan made, and I created a seller's page for Etsy.

I've formed a good habit of coming in every Sunday to one of the 2 coffee shops on my street and trying to complete a print before I leave.  I have done good.  Also, I have a ton of new ideas for more prints..I'm going to do more informative illustration/printing..aka you will learn something when you buy/look at one of my prints.  Unless you are already super smart and knowz it already.  Learning is my favorite thing to do... surely it is others' too.

I don't want to give a sneak preview because I want my release a super surprise.  Hopefully some will like it and see the value in it.  I might be going to some craft fairs or farmers markets this summer if I can get my shit together and enough of it.

Dare I say summer is here?? :)

Back at it

Canon Pixma Pro9000I am back on the prowl. The art prowl. My goal is to get my business going on Etsy by May, and have 5 new prints to sell.  I have 1 print ready to go so far..so I definitely have some work to do.  I have many ideas that I have started but have yet to finish.  I might also scan some of my black & white ink drawings and  digitally color them.

I will be purchasing this printer.  Instead of hassling and paying someone else to print my stuff, I will do it myself.  I read that it's not a good idea to buy expensive equipment right away (not too expensive though, 500-800$).  It's more expensive to have someone else print it out.. It will pay for itself..I have to sell between 25-40 prints @ 20$ each to break even. AKA not too bad.  And I know my artwork will sell. I believe in it.

Yellowstone Art

Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of time to keep making artwork.  I am either always a)working, b)surrounded by others, or c)hiking.  But here's some of the things I've made while I've been here, mostly pen drawings, which I have quite a few more hanging up either around the kitchen or random bullet

Heavenly

I've been here for about 3 weeks. It's starting to get really damn good too.  I love my  job (well except for the physically exhausting part of it).  I basically just have to charm people into giving me money, which is working quite well.  I love meeting people from all over the world! And I'm getting better at knowing which state/country someone is from by their accent.

There are a lot of awesome people here too.  Everyone is starting to really friendly know that we always work with each other.  I met someone that I really liked, but that person went away to a different part of the park :( .  There are a lot of alcoholics here.  Everyone has been partying a lot and just getting ridiculously silly drunk and somehow make it to work every day (myself included). I layed in a hammock last night and watched the stars for a while.

The hiking is incredible.  I did an 18 mile hike last week and it was just absolutely breathtaking.  I LOVE IT here!  I'm going to the Tetons  in a couple of days.  THE TETONS.  I'll surely be in heaven. I wish my friends back home would visit and see what I see here.

In the park

So I arrived a little over a week ago.  Just spent my time getting settled, getting to know people here, and training for my job.  I was promoted to server on the first day, so that was pretty f'in awesome.  I had my first day serving yesterday, it was pretty awful, but today was much better and I think I worked out the kinks.  Except I still feel like a dumbass trying to open a bottle of wine with their shitty tool.  But anyways.

As I expected, the weather has been pretty terrible .  It's been raining almost every single day.  So haven't been able to do any hiking except for going down to the Canyon a couple of times.  But it should start getting better in about a week is my prediction.

Peace
